Sunday Brunch

Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut.
~
Ernest Hemingway

Who doesn’t like a brunch? What a great way to enjoy the company of friends without the drunkenness that sometimes goes hand in hand with a dinner party. Also for those of us who begin to shut down by late evening, with a brunch there is no worry about yawning and falling asleep on the guests. I realize with Bloody Mary’s and Mimosas getting all “liquored up” could happen but generally speaking most of us relax during a brunch and don’t really get all jazzed to pound beers, wine, or martinis. Instead, coffee is served with the Mimosa and there you have it. You drink a little of each and not a lot of just one.

We did toast to health and life with two cancer survivors and one stroke survivor present. When you think about it there are many reasons to consider most of us survivors. Not to make light of the very real life and death situations of illness, but many have true challenges that test the psyche and it’s ability to overcome depression and heartache. Those who are caretakers of the ill or of parents needing assistance, those who watch the trials of children seeking their independence, those who worry about the stability of their jobs, and on and on. These may not be life threatening, but they are challenging the understanding of how to live.
