Utilizing Websites in Today's Economy

Today's economy has many people worried about their jobs, their business and bills. Companies are cutting jobs in order to make ends meet. But there is opportunity in the middle of these difficulties. Here are a few suggestions.

Many businesses are closing their doors, some of which have been around for a significant length of time. This is of great interest to me. Some of these establishments cater to people with discretionary incomes, which are in shorter supply today. Others didn’t plan for such a rough economy. But more than either of the two reasons above a large percentage of the smaller corporations haven’t kept up with today’s technology or the web-savvy customers. They haven’t invested in the websites that will keep customers interested and informed of their products and services.

One of my clients is a wine-maker. Years ago I built him a site using html the preferred technology at the time. But technology changes and I have advised him numerous times that it needs to be changed. His complaint is always the money it will take to get a working site up and running. However, money well invested in an internet customer base that could exceed millions is more logical than billboards, newspaper ads and people in costume who stand on the street corner.

HELLO!!!! IS ANY BODY HOME????

If you have a product the internet is your largest customer base, and in today’s troubled economic world people spend more time on the internet in search of the products or services that are the most accessible. Whether you’re an author, artist, dealership or pizza guy over 65% of the population in this country are savvy web-surfers. Do the math. The numbers are staggering.

The key, however, is to have a site that works for you. HTML sites are a thing of the past, they will get you neither web traffic nor will they show up in a random Google search. Find a webmaster and invest the money to make certain when someone Googles a product you offer your website appears in the search.

People shop more online these days. They look for quality and help. Why not give it to them? Utilize those web sites folks!
